With fall coming in at full force... well, with the exception of Baton Rouge that it is, (it is still a lovely high 80's here) we are alllll wanting to add to our sweater weather wardrobe. I mean same. I already have purchased a sweater and some booties in hopes that I'll get to wear them in December lol. I figured now was a good of time as any to write about staple pieces you need in your wardrobe so you don't just buy random sweaters for the heck of it but that you actually buy pieces that will enhance the selection of clothes you already have!
White Shirt
A white shirt can be paired with most other clothes. I literally wear this ALL OF THE TIME in any season but especially fall! Under cardigans, flannels, dresses... everything! If you don't have one, get one now.
I'd pick up a few because since I wear them so often I also go through them quickly. I mean no matter how many times you add bleach to the load they still just get dingy! Look for coupon codes or sales so that you can treat yourself to a couple at a lower cost. You can click here to learn more.
Trench Coat
Trench coats are a timeless addition to your wardrobe. Generations of women have been wearing them, and no matter what the latest trends are, a trench coat will always look good. Its smart lines and flattering belted waist means a trench coat will always look good.
A Real Leather Handbag
Real leather has a look and smell all of its own, and that makes a real leather handbag rather special. They may not be cheap, but it will last you many years if you take care of it. It will make any outfit look more classy, and you should buy one that is big enough to hold a few things, but not so big that it is cumbersome. But to be honest for me the bigger the better because I like to carry my humongous laptop with me lol.
Black Dress
A black dress is a must. It is timeless, slimming and suitable for many occasions and events. They are flattering and can be made even dressier by the addition of some delicate jewelry or accessories such as a silk scarf. I mean this is nothing new so if you don't have one are you even human?
Watches
Wanna look professional and like you are ready to take the world by storm... then get yourself a fancy looking watch. They may not be that practical because I definitely don't use them to tell time HAHA but do look good (;
Jeans
Jeans are something worth having in your closet no matter how much you may not like them (me). A skinny pair and a pair that do not hug quite so tightly are ideal and you should really look for some without wholes because that way you can wear them to work.
Camel Coats
A camel coat, like the ones here, will not only give you instant elegance, it will keep you warm as well. Make sure you have it cleaned at the end of each cold season and store it safely over the summer months and a camel coat will last you for many years.
White Sneakers
A pair of white sneakers are sooo useful. For a more casual look with your jeans and top, they are ideal. They are also good if you have any amount of walking to do, such as spending the day browsing around the stores in your city. You need some white tennis shoes, just trust me. I have white converse, white nikes, and white adidas so I am prepared for any occasion.
Leather Jackets
Buying a leather jacket is a very worthwhile investment. You will wear it so many times without it showing any signs of needing to replace it. They can be worn with most things and will enhance the appearance of most outfits.
Cashmere Sweaters
Since I know you are allll about the sweaters right now, make sure you pick up a cashmere sweaters. Cashmere sweaters always look expensive and are perfect to wear with your jeans or a skirt. They are timeless, warm and will last you for years with proper care. There are some that are very expensive, but you can find cheaper versions of them as well. I'd check Nordstrom for sure.
Next time you are adding to your wardrobe, look at some of the classic and timeless pieces that will never go out of fashion and will last you years. Some of them might cost you a little more to start with, but in the long run, they could save you a lot of money and hassle.
